Structure
The Northern Nevada United (NNU) is structured around three strategic "battlefronts" to advance its mission in Northern Nevada: Life, Government Oversight, and Family Authority. Each battlefront has designated leaders and aligns with specific principles rooted in the U.S. founding documents and the organization’s stated values.
1. Life
-
Leaders
Melissa Clement, Nevada Right to Life
-
Core Principle
Life is created by God and must be protected, particularly for the unborn. The right to life is inalienable, as recognized in the Declaration of Independence.
-
Objective
Advocate for the protection and preservation of life, emphasizing the sanctity of the unborn.
2. Government Oversight
-
Leaders
1. Kate Vineyard, Washoe Freedom Coalition
2. Maurice Washington, Americans for Prosperity -
Core Principle
Civil government is ordained by God to defend the Laws of Nature and protect the natural rights of citizens, including rights to life and property.
Elected leaders must embody virtue, as articulated by Samuel Adams: “Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He, therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country, who tries most to promote its virtue, and who… will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust, who is not a wise and virtuous man”
-
Objective
Ensure that leaders of virtue are elected to protect citizens’ natural rights and uphold moral laws concerning rights and property.
2. Family authority
-
Leaders
• Paul White, Education Crusade
• Pam Butters, Community Impact Team of Calvary Chapel Reno Sparks -
Core Principle
The family, led by a father and mother, is the foundational unit of a strong Republic.
Local government’s role is to protect and support the family unit.
Parents have primary rights and responsibilities for the training and education of their children, as education is essential for preserving liberty.
This is reinforced by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Prince v. Commonwealth of Massachusetts (1944), which states that the custody, care, and nurture of children reside first with parents, and the state cannot interfere in the private realm of family life.
-
Objective
Safeguard parental rights and promote the family unit as central to societal stability, particularly in education and child-rearing.
Summary
The NNU’s structure is designed to align with its mission to uphold God-given rights, virtuous governance, and the centrality of the family. Each battlefront—Life, Government Oversight, and Family Authority—has dedicated leadership and draws on foundational American principles, supported by references to the Declaration of Independence, the writings of the Founders, and relevant legal precedents like Prince v. Massachusetts. The organization aims to protect inalienable rights, ensure virtuous leadership, and preserve the family as the bedrock of the Republic.
